Toddler groups

We have a range of groups suited to older babies and toddlers.

All our toddler courses are free to attend. However, there is an expectation that if you accept a place on one of our courses, you will be able to attend regularly. Please speak to the course leader if you think you may not be able to come each week.

Toddlers Learning Through Play

This is a 10 week, stay and play style course for parents to attend with their child.

Different, engaging play opportunities are available for children to explore each week, allowing parent and child to spend quality time together in a supportive, welcoming environment.

The focus of the course is on sharing information about child development,  home learning opportunities and school readiness.

Each session has a different topic, and suggestions for things to try at home are shared each week.

This course is suitable for parents and carers with children 10 months to 36 months.

For more information please contact Anita on 07493097502.

Big Cook Little Cook

Our Big Cook Little Cook five week course is delivered by Natasha Shepherd in various community settings, for small groups of parents and their under 4s. The children have great fun tasting, chopping, mixing, and taking home something they have made to eat for their lunch.
Parents also gain an insight into the nutrition messages that underpin the programme – which address portion sizes for all the family, sugar, fat, salt, food labelling and achieving balanced family eating.

Big Cook Little Cook is a great way to support healthy eating. Mammas staff have been trained by the Leicester Nutrition and Dietetics Service (LNDS) to deliver this course, and we are very proud to be involved. Parents and young children explore healthy food together through cooking and learning activities. They learn safe and age-appropriate techniques to chop, grate, measure, mix and cook, with emphasis on building their confidence as “kitchen helpers” with independent skills of their own.

Sparklers brings you and your child together to improve your understanding of each other.
Our experienced playworkers help develop your children's interests and teach you about learning through play. During the session we come together to discuss common concerns such as behaviour, sleep, and eating. Parents have found they create a support network at the same time as supporting their child's development.
This is an 8 week course and siblings, both parents and other family members are welcome.

"I feel the session content is great to allow us to empathise more with our child and see the world from their perspective. As its very different! It's been great to get this information and I feel its impacted positively on our relationship as a family :)"

Mammas Wild Ones:
"I think personally for me it's just been seeing the major changes in confidence with the 2 kids and I will be honest at the first session I did actually regret it but I'm just so glad I'm stuck it out as both kids have just really blossomed. After their first session one thing Kulsum told me on nursery day was 'can't we go forest school?' And I had to say no its Monday so nursery 😅.  The other thing that surprised me about her was how she asked about Logan on the way there and she is normally very cautious to make new friends so that was a nice surprise. Aadam I think it's just the fact we went from just sitting there digging to actually doing crafts and joining in"

Tots Talking: The aim of Tots Talking is to improve communication skills in two-year-olds. This is done by sharing information with parents and carers and encouraging use of language and behaviours which research suggests supports children in talking and understanding words. This course was developed by Speech and Language UK.
